About Smt. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan
She began her career in 1966 as a lead actress in the Kannada movie Love in Bangalore.
In a career spanning over 50 years, Bharathi has appeared in 150 films. Apart from 100 films in Kannada, she has acted in a handful of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. In the course of her career, she became known for her portrayal of the roles of mythological and historical characters, as well as that of a student, a romantic, and a rural belle. Her role in Sri Krishnadevaraya (1970) as Chennambike won her a Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress. In 2017, the government of India honored her with the Padma Shri.
Bharathi was born into the Marathi-speaking family of Ramachandra Rao in Bhadravathi on August 15, 1950, in the erstwhile Indian State of Mysore (now Karnataka).[1] As a student at Maharani's College in Mysore, she was active in sports, dance, and acting, the latter of which she started in 1964. Bharathi married one of the great actors, Vishnuvardhan, on February 27, 1975 in Bengaluru.
